The scientific programme for ICDC12 will be shaped by the latest research and ideas from the international carbon cycle community. We invite submissions for oral and poster presentations, alongside proposals for conference mini workshops.
ICDC12 provides a range of opportunities to showcase your research, exchange ideas, and engage with scientists from around the world.
ICDC12 welcomes submission of original research on the global carbon cycle on temporal scales ranging from the paleo ice-core record to the future policy relevant time horizon, and on spatial scales ranging from local to global level. We encourage submissions on new scientific advancement on the carbon cycle, including new observations, products, models, and analytical approaches.
ICDC12
We welcome submissions on the quantification of global to land or ocean regional budgets of the different components of the carbon cycle. Submissions could cover advances in top-down and/or bottom-up approaches that are improving the accuracy and resolution of carbon sources and sinks estimates across scales for both land and ocean systems.
We welcome submissions that explore the processes and feedbacks that shape the global carbon cycle across Earth's history and will determine its trajectory in a warming world. Submissions could cover the physical and biogeochemical processes that govern carbon exchange between the atmosphere, land, and ocean and their response to the present and future anthropogenic perturbation.
We welcome submissions that explore how carbon cycle science can guide responsible management of the Earth system in the face of accelerating climate change. Submissions could cover the evolving landscape of anthropogenic emissions and removals, exploring peak and decline trajectories from national to global scales, and how land, ocean or technological interventions can contribute to emissions mitigation. Submissions could also explore Earth system metrics such as TCRE and the remaining carbon budgets in the context of climate neutrality.

Deadline for submissions: 15 December 2026
Notification of acceptance: We aim to notify all applicants of the outcome of their submission in early 2027.
Conference format: ICDC12 is an in-person conference. All accepted presenters and mini workshop organisers are expected to attend the conference in person.
Registration: Registration is expected to open in autumn 2026.
Registration fees: To encourage inclusive participation, we will offer a subsidised registration fee of £200 for students, early career researchers, and delegates from low- and middle-income countries. The standard registration fee for all other delegates will be £400.
